Description:

This tech talk will introduce the Clojure language, describe its strong sides and its not-so-strong sides, and explore the ways in which the language simplifies client- and server-side development. The talk will include a presentation and demos.
Audience members should have a basic knowledge of functional programming and its concepts.

Motivation:

Java developers are familiar with the pain of client-side development (JSP, Java EE and other frameworks). It’s commonly said: “C# – beautiful language, terrible infrastructure; Java – beautiful infrastructure, terrible language”. Clojure is a dynamic, general-purpose programming language that combines the approachability and interactive development of a scripting language with an efficient and robust infrastructure for multi-threaded programming. Clojure enables you to both write using an appealing language and to utilise all the power of the Java infrastructure.
